LETHA MATTHEWS DOUGLAS Scranton, S.C. Letha Matthews Douglas, 97, of Scranton, entered into eternal rest on the morning of Wednesday, October 10, 2012.For the last seven years, she was a resident of the Bethea Baptist Retirement Community. Ms. Douglas was born June 15, 1915, in Olanta, SC, a daughter of the late Elijah and Ella Ard Miles.She was a member of Scranton First Pentecostal Holiness Church since 1944.She was a homemaker and retired from Country Cousins BBQ.She thoroughly loved her family and was loved by everyone.She generously shared her love with friends. In addition to her parents, Ms. Douglas is predeceased by her first husband, Dewey W. Matthews, after forty-six years of marriage, and her second husband, Joe Douglas; her son, Leo Matthews; two grandchildren, Lorraine Cox and Dewayne Matthews; nine brothers, four sisters; two sons-in-law, LeGrande Hyman and Larry Cox; and a daughter-in-law, Nadine Matthews. Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Donald Matthews of Darlington, SC; five daughters, Genell Hyman of Scranton, SC, Juanita (JD) Player of Lynchburg, SC, Kathleen (Donald) Poston of Pamplico, SC, and Joyce (Gary) Pounder of Yorktown, VA, and Vickie (Denny) Buchanan of Charleston, SC;a step-daughter, Rosa Hudson and a step-son, Billy Ray Douglas, both of Darlington, SC; twenty-four grandchildren, twenty-one great-grand children, and four great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, October 12, 2012, in the Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Lake City Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Friday at the Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Bethea Baptist Retirement Community, 157 Home Avenue, Darlington, SC29532 and to McLeod Hospice House, P. O.
