Leslie "Randy" Randolph Carraway

Leslie Randolph “Randy” Carraway, 64, of Effingham, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2013 at his residence after an illness. Mr. Carraway was born in Florence, SC a son of J.W. and Eloise Broach Carraway.He was a member and Deacon of Ebenezer Baptist Church where he also taught the youth and prepared Wednesday night suppers and was affiliated with Effingham Church of God.He was a US Army veteran having served in Vietnam and Desert Storm and retired in 2010 from McLeod Regional Medical Center as an HVAC mechanic after 31 years. Randy was a member of the Old Coots Club, the owner of Effingham Duck Blind Company and was an avid duck hunter and fisherman. Surviving in addition to his parents of Effingham are his wife of 43 years, Diane Johnson Carraway of Effingham; daughter, Leslie Guzman of Effingham; brothers, Wallace (Sylvia) Carraway of Houston, TX, Wendell Carraway and Roger Carraway, both of Effingham; sisters, Margaret (Roger) McKay of Lugoff, Miriam (Mac) Campbell, Elsie Lear and Susie Carraway, all of Effingham and Tina (Andrew) Whitney of Florence. Memorials may be made to the Connie Maxwell Children’s Home, 1924 Durant Drive, Florence, SC29505. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, September 1, 2013 at the Effingham Church of God.Burial will follow in Florence Memorial Gardens directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 PM Saturday at the funeral home and other times at his residence.
