Larry E. Williams

Larry E. Williams, 71, formerly of Florence, passed away in Duluth, GA, on Monday, January 26, 2015 after an illness. Mr. Williams was born in Columbus, GA, a son of the late Herman C. Williams and Inez Watson Williams.He graduated from Jordan High School in Columbus, GA and was a US Navy Veteran during Vietnam.Mr. Williams was the first Air Traffic Controller at the Florence Airport. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his step-father, James D. “Danny” Williams and his brother, Earl Williams. Surviving are his wife, Nobia Jones Williams of Braselton, GA;step-son, Patrick McCormick of Braselton, GA; nephews, Jeff Williams and Brad Williams, both of Columbus, GA, Alex McLaughlin of Columbia, SC and Joey McLaughlin of Effingham, SC, and two step-sisters. Graveside Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2015, at Sparrow Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Family will receive friends at the home of William McLaughlin, 2930 West John Paul Jones Road, Effingham, SC.
