Larry Wesley Matthews

Mr. Larry Wesley Matthews, 78, of 1915 Shortpost Lane Florence, SC, passed away on September 21, 2026 after a brief illness.

Mr, Matthews was born in Florence county, a son of the late William Matthews and Dorothy Baxley.

Mr. Matthews spend his life in Florence County. He was a professional painter and floor finisher. He was a beloved member of Community Free Will Baptist Church. He loved fishing and was a great drummer.

Surviving are his wife, Doris Matthews and son, Ray Matthews; siblings, Mitchell Matthews, Lynn Matthews, and Susie Miles; grandchildren, Rachel (Alex) Godwin and Heather Matthews; great grandchildren, Tray, Leah, Isaih, and Jason; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his son, Wesley Matthews.

Mr. Matthews in now in the loving arms of his lord and savior, Jesus Christ.

A memorial service will be scheduled for a later date.
