KARL PACE "REDD" MAYO, SR. Florence, S.C. Karl Pace "Redd" Mayo, Sr., 81, of Florence, died Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at his residence. Mr. Mayo was born in Pitt Co., NC, a son of the late Wiley Thomas and Mary Elizabeth Baker Mayo.He had retired from Vulcraft after 35 years of service and loved helping elderly people in his neighborhood. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jimmy Mayo, Wiley T. Mayo, Jr., Jonas Mayo and Billy Mayo and sister, Mary Ella Mayo. Surviving are his children, Alice (Chip) Wallace, Kathy Trader, Karl P. Mayo, Jr. and Otis (Marian) Mayo, all of Florence, Wiley (Jackie) Mayo of Lamar, Marie (Harry) Tarlton and Hattie (Brian) Augustine, both of Darlington; twenty five grandchildren; thirty one great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary (Drew) Heath of Kinston, NC, Margie (Jim) Kirby of Gardner, N.C., Faye Jones of Greenville, N.C. and Kathleen (Marvin) Hardee of Greenville, N.C.; brothers, Johnny (Georgia) Mayo and Otis (Sandra) Mayo both of Greenville, N.C. and the mother of his children and his best friend, Kathleen H. Mayo of Florence. Also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home to assist the family. Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Friday, October 15, 2010 in the Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home Chapel.Burial will follow in Florence Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 - 9 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
