Junior Riley Propps, 96, of Florence, SC, passed away on Monday, December 17, 2018. Mr. Propps was born a son of the late Myrtle Smales Propps and Frank Propps. As a member of our greatest generation, he was a US Army veteran of World War II and served in the Second Armored Division from North Africa to Sicily to Normandy to Belgium, to Germany and in the famed Battle of the Bulge.He had been on the Board of Governors of the Second Armored Division Association.Mr. Propps was a butcher with A & P Grocery Store and Food Lion until retiring in 1988.He was a member of Florence Baptist Temple. Mr. Propps was a Past Commander at American Legion Post 149 in Fayetteville, WV and a member of the Amity Masonic Lodge in Florence, SC.He had also retired from Florence County Court as a Bailiff after working from 1988 -2015. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his wife, Mildred Jane Clark Propps and his siblings, Anna Clark, Pansy Snodderly and Eugene Campbell. Mr. Propps is survived by his son, Randy Propps (Annette) of Florence, SC; grandchildren, Tony Brown and Carson Brown; and great-grandchildren, Collin Brown and Hannah Brown. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 20, 2108, at Florence Baptist Temple.Entombment will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens Mausoleum directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
