Judith Vernell Hewitt Newsome

JUDITH VERNELL HEWITT NEWSOME Florence, SC Judith Vernell Hewitt Newsome, 73, of Florence, passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2013, at her residence after a long illness. Ms. Newsome was born in Florence County, a daughter of the late Manning Johnny Hewitt and Annie Mae Spears Hewitt. She was a member of Florence Baptist Temple and worked in the 70’s and 80’s for Guaranty Bank. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Johnny Hewitt and Jimmy Hewitt. Surviving are her daughter, Christina Newsome Fender of Florence; granddaughters, Elizabeth Jade Fender (Heath O’brian) Cahoon of Conway, and Jessica Blair Fender of Florence, and their father, James Michael Fender;three great-grandchildren, Mason James Cahoon (4 years of age), Alice Christine Cahoon (7 ½ months of age) and Evans Colten Kirby (19 months of age); sister, Betty Hewitt Jernigan, of Florence; nephew, Johnny Manning Hewitt , of Conway and a number of other beloved nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, April 14, 2013, graveside at Hewitt Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
