Joyce B. Whisenant

Joyce B. Whisenant, 94, of Darlington, SC, formerly of Goldsboro, NC, passed away on Monday, December 29, 2025, at McLeod Hospice House.

Mrs. Whisenant was born in Knoxville, TN, the daughter of the late Dovie Reese Bray and Isaac Newton Bray.

She graduated from University of Tennessee with degrees in English and Journalism. She was a successful Realtor with her late husband of fifty-five years, Carl David Whisenant, at Whis Realty in Goldsboro, NC, for thirty years and worked hard. Mrs. Whisenant was also the first female President of Board of Realtors and taught Real Estate classes at Wayne Community College and Pitt Community College. She was a member of Adamsville Baptist Church in Goldsboro. Mrs. Whisenant loved her grandchildren and playing bingo with them. She also loved to listen to the late Adrian Rogers. Her hobbies included bird watching and gardening.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded by her sons, Michael Patrick Whisenant and David Joseph Whisenant.

Surviving are sons, Timothy Whisenant and Stephen Whisenant; daughters, Teresa W. Miller (Richard), Mary Ham (Ronnie) and Patricia Powell; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a grandson that she raised, David Whisenant.

Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, January 5, 2026, in the Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home Chapel.
