Joyce Lewis Simkins

Joyce Lewis Simkins, 79, of Florence, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2017. Ms. Simkins was born in Florence, SC a daughter of the late Tom Lewis and Ruby Hatchell Lewis.She was a graduate of McClenaghan High School where she was a majorette, ran track and played softball and basketball and a graduate of Florence Commercial College.She was an office manager for several medical offices and a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church.She was also active in the Just for Women Ministries and a member of the ladies auxiliary of the VFW and Elks Lodge in Florence. Surviving are her sons, Robert D. (Terri) Simkins and Mark S. (Susan) Simkins; daughter, Ginger S. (Donny) Allen; grandchildren, Kristen Matthews and Amber Simkins; great-grandchildren, Kaylee Simkins and Michael Arnold; brother, Ronald M. (Jil) Lewis and sisters, Linnie L. Hill and Kitten L. Lewis. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 950 48th Avenue North, Suite 101, Myrtle Beach, SC, 29577 and the Jayne Boswell Animal Shelter, P. O. Box 4808, Florence, SC29502. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 PM Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday at St. Anthony Catholic Church.Burial will follow in Florence Memorial Gardens.
