Joseph Paul Baltenbach

JOSEPH PAUL BALTENBACH FLORENCE, S.C. JOSEPH PAUL BALTENBACH, 89, of Florence, passed away Sunday, May 27, 2012 in a Florence hospital after an illness. Mr. Baltenbach was born in Cleveland, OH, a son of the late Joseph and Theresa Vargo Baltenbach. As a member of "Our Greatest Generation", he was a WWII Army veteran, having been awarded the Purple Heart as a Corporal in Company "H" of the 13th Armored Regiment. He received his honorable discharge in 1943. He moved to Lake City in 1967 where he went to work for A.B. Dick Company until his retirement. In addition to his parents, Mr. Baltenbach was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Hall Baltenbach; his brother, Lawrence Baltenbach, and a younger sister. Surviving are his children; Judy Via of the home, Gary (Linda) Baltenbach of Murrells Inlet, Sherry (Larry) Lyerly of Florence and Marlene (Dave) Ury of Ravenna, OH; eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 30, 2012 in the Lake City Memorial Park, directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home of Florence. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the D.A.V. P.O.
