JOSPEH LEE JENKINS FLORENCE, SC Joseph Lee Jenkins, 90, of Florence, went to be with the Lord on March 4, 2016. He was born on November 14, 1925, in Mobile, Alabama, to Luther Galeon Jenkins and Josephine Antoinette Farnell Jenkins.Joe and his brothers proudly served their country during World War II, each in a different branch of service.Joe served in the Navy from 1942 -1944.He spent most of his adult life in Columbia, SC where he was founder and president of Joe Jenkins Realty.He was a past president of Columbia Board of Realtors and lifelong member of South Carolina Board of Realtors.He had a true gift of selling and if someone liked his own home, he would sell it right then and there with a smile on his face. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Florence, SC where his son is the senior pastor.Before moving to Florence, Joe was an elder of Lexington Presbyterian Church and active in Men’s Bible studies.He also had a wonderful voice and joyfully sang in the church choir.Joe will be remembered for his infectious laugh, quick wit, and love of selling. He was predeceased by his parents; three brothers and one sister. He is survived by his children, Reverend Dr. Barry Lee (Susan) Jenkins, Teresa Jenkins (Guy) Tarrant and Reid Jenkins (Chuck) Anderson; blessed with six grandchildren, Dr. Barry Joseph (Maria) Jenkins, William Ryan (Meredith) Jenkins, Langdon Cheves (Allison) Tarrant, Joseph McCord (Stephanie) Tarrant, Gracie Anderson and Corbett Anderson and seven great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff of the Florence Presbyterian Community for the years of love, care and devotion. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday, March 9, 2016 in the Chapel at the Presbyterian Community of Florence, SC. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM at Greenlawn Cemetery in Columbia, SC directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
