Joleen Grooms Watford, 80, of Alvation, KY, passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2020. Mrs. Watford was born in Florence, SC a daughter of the late Lonnie Grooms and Aileen Miles Grooms. Joleen Watford lived a full life and brought joy to everyone she met. She was a loving mother and grandmother to her own family and filled that role for many children in her church and neighborhood throughout her years. She was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church and nothing made her happier than cooking a meal for someone or feeding the hungry through the Calvary Outreach Food Program. You felt such a sense of peace in her home where she loved sitting on her porch watching her hummingbirds or reading her bible.She enjoyed traveling to her favorite places including Ireland where she felt she must have roots with her feisty spirit and red hair! She also made her trip of a lifetime to Jerusalem where she was so proud to tell you that she, “walked where Jesus had walked!” She lived life to the fullest, and she will be missed by all the lives that she touched. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Robin Alexander; grandson, Dalton Munn; brothers, Mitchell Grooms, Cecil Grooms, Olin Grooms, and Wendell Grooms; sisters, Juanita Bryant, Penny Wallace, and Marilyn Jordan. Surviving are her husband, Kenneth Lee Watford; sons, Douglas (Joyce) Munn, Paul Munn, and Mark Munn, all of Effingham; daughters, Nataline (James) Bennett of Effingham and Angela (Garland) Johnson of Aynor, SC; step-daughter, Rhonda Watford of Florence; grandchildren, Brent (Kacee) Bennett of Lake City, Sarah (Brad) Richardson of Florence, Rebecca Munn of Effingham, Amie Munn of Effingham, Kathryn (Ethan) English of Aynor, Trey Johnson of Aynor, Walker Munn of Effingham, Dale (Eva) Alexander of Effingham, Whitney (John) Dodenhoff of Conway, Taylor Alexander of Boston, Mass, Jessica (Dale) Elmore of Florence, Paula Munn of Florence, and Melanie (Jon) D’Leary of Summerville; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, June (Calvin) Gibson of Effingham. Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 3011 Elrod Road, Bowling Green, KY 42104. The family will receive friends from 2 – 3 pm Sunday, June 28, 2020 at Peace Free Will Baptist Church with the service to take place at 3:00 pm in the church sanctuary.Entombment will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
