John Earle Strickland

John Earle Strickland, 69, of Florence, passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2014. John was born in Florence Co., SC a son of the late Alex Leon Strickland and Letha Lynch Strickland.He was a Vietnam Veteran having served in the U.S. Army and was a recipient of the Purple Heart.He was the owner/operator of John’s Ceramic Tile and loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and gardening. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Cameron Strickland and Sylvia Strickland and a brother, Floyd Strickland. Surviving are his children, Joey (Nikki) Evans, Cameron (Rebecca) Strickland, Johnny Strickland, and Cody Harrington all of Florence; the mother of his children, Ginger Strickland; brothers, Wilbur (Winetta) Strickland of Effingham, Bobby Joe (Nell) Strickland of Florence and Jerry (Barbara M.) Strickland of Timmonsville; grandchildren, Aleeah Strickland and Bailey Jade Evans and special friends, Sharon and J.D. Miles. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, P.O. Box 758517,Topeka, Kansas 66675 or to the First Free Will Baptist Church, 2624 W. Palmetto St., Florence, SC 29501. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon, Friday, June 20, 2014 in the Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home Chapel.Burial will follow in the Florence National Cemetery.
