John Milton Sherbert, Sr. Florence, SC John Milton Sherbert, Sr., 64, of Florence, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, June 13, 2014, from injuries sustained in an accident, doing what he loved, his passion for flying planes. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at Abundant Life Church, 3030 South Irby Street, Florence. The family will receive friends at the church from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service. John was born in East St. Louis, IL, a son of the late Robert Stephen Sherbert and Martha Juanita Reeves Sherbert. He was a faithful member of Abundant Life Church where he served for many years as Director of their Security and Usher Team as well as an Elder.He was the very first Motorcycle Police Officer for the City of Florence, retiring after 21 years of service.He had been a pilot since 1984 and was a member of the AOPA and the EAA. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Vietnam War. Surviving are his wife, Susan Kreft Sherbert of Florence; son, John Milton (April) Sherbert, Jr. of Stedman, NC; step-daughters, Brianne (James) Morrison-Scott of Florence and Lisa Michelle Morrison of Elgin; sisters, Debra Anderson of Florence, Cindy Bahr of St. Joseph, Missouri and Bonita Williamson of Fitzgerald, GA and seven grandchildren.
