John Jeffrey "Jeff" Kenney

John Jeffrey “Jeff” Kenney, 70, of Florence, SC passed away on Saturday, September 22, 2018. Mr. Kenney was born in Youngstown, OH a son of the late James T. Kenney and Jean Vahey Kenney.He was a US Navy veteran having served with the Navy Submarine Service for 10 years and was a maintenance electrician having worked for Nucor Steel from 1980 – 2015.He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. Jeff was an accomplished cribbage player, avid reader, loved golfing and shooting pool with friends. Most of all, he loved laughing and telling stories with friends and family. He was preceded in death by his parents and by a brother, Pat Kenney. Cherishing his memory are his wife, Sally Ann Hopper Kenney of Florence; sons, Chris (Melodie) Kenney of Mechanicsville, VA, Jeffrey Kenney of Johnson City, TN and Matt (Lindsay) Kenney of Camden, SC;brother, Marty Kenney; sisters, Maureen (Todd) Reutzel, Kathy (Bob) Sirak, Laurie (Drew) Saunders, Kelley (Jim) Ress, Jamie (Jon) Espelage and Erin (Jim) Petro.; a sister-in-law, Kathy Kenney and many nieces and nephews. He was an awesome “Papa” to his grandchildren; Jacob, Zachary, Mia, Bailey, Peyton and Aiden. A Catholic Mass will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, September 28, 2018 at St. Anthony Catholic Church.A Wake Service and visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Thursday at Stoudenmire –Dowling Funeral Home. Burial will follow at 1:00 PM at the Florence National Cemetery. Our family wishes to thank the devoted medical staff of CarolinasHospital and Florence Visiting Nurses Service for his care.
