John Roosevelt Garris

John Roosevelt Garris, Jr., 71, of Florence, SC, passed away on Tuesday, August 10, 2016. Mr. Garris was born in Portsmouth, VA, a son of the late John Roosevelt Garris, Sr. and Edna Mae Jones.He was a veteran of the US Air Force, retiring as Master Sergeant after twenty years of service.Mr. Garris was a member of Greenwood Baptist Church.He enjoyed fishing, golfing, hunting and was an avid sportsman. Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Constance Lefoy Lupton Garris; daughters, Wanda (Mike) Bloomer of Harpers Ferry, WV; Felicia (John) Rayner of Sterling, VA, Becky (Burt) Miller of Sterling, VA and Dawn (Chris) Lyke of Sarasota, FL six grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 13, 2016, at Greenwood Baptist Church. Entombment will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens Mausoleum directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Family will receive friends on 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at Greenwood Baptist Church.
