John Garrison Campbell

John Garrison Campbell, 81, of Pamplico, SC, known to his grandchildren as “Papa John” passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2014. Mr. Campbell was born in Florence County, a son of the late Southern Mortimer Campbell and BessieGarrison Campbell.He was a US Army Veteran, having served in the Military Police.He was with Service Motor Company in Pamplico for forty-five years, retiring as co-owner and was a farmer.Mr. Campbell was a long time member of Pamplico First Baptist Church and a lifetime Deacon. He was active in the Pamplico Community and he dearly loved his church, his family and his friends, and in return was loved by everyone who knew him. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Reese Campbell and Marion Campbell; and his sister, Helen Johnson. Surviving are his wife of sixty years, Alma Young Campbell; his children, Joe (Tammie) Campbell of Pamplico; Barbara (Bill) Triplett and Mary (Sam) Gibson, both of Florence; his grandchildren, Mitch (Brooke) Campbell, Michael Campbell, Maggie (Adam) Bellflower, Paul (Amy) Triplett, Allison Triplett, Ben Gibson, Caroline Gibson, and Sam (Leigh Anne) Gibson; his great-grandchildren, Walker, Wesley and Adalyn; and his sister, Joyce (Ray) Rogers. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 18, 2014, at Pamplico First Baptist Church.Burial will follow at Willow Creek Baptist Church Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Pamplico First Baptist Church, P. O Box 248, Pamplico, SC 29583.
