JOHN STEVEN CALCUTT FLORENCE, SC JOHN STEVEN CALCUTT, 61, of Florence, passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at his residence. Mr. Calcutt was born in Florence, SC a son of Mattie Sports Calcutt and the late John R. “Monk” Calcutt.He had attended Southside High School, was a US Navy veteran, a member of Ridgcrest Baptist Church and before his disability he had worked for ESAB and Taylor Enterprises.He was an avid Gamecock fan. He was preceded in death by his father, daughter, Vanessa Thompson, grandson, Gage Thompson, a brother, Terry Calcutt and a son-in-law, CW2 Joshua Tillery. Surviving are his mother, Mattie Calcutt of Florence; son, Jay (Mandie) Calcutt of Elgin, daughter, Stephanie Tillery of Meridian, Idaho, son and best friend, Michael Calcutt of Florenceand daughter, Emily (Dave) Holloman of Jacksonville, FL; sisters, Robin (Bill) Timmons of Timmonsville, Lori (Mike) Shirley and Tammy Richardsonboth of Florence; five grandsons, four granddaughters, several nieces and nephews and good friend Albert Lee, who has assisted John over the last few years by checking in with him and making sure he had everything he needed from day to day. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warriors Foundation, www.woundedwarriorproject.org. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January, 14, 2014 at the Florence National Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Veterans Honor Guard of Florence. Burial will follow directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the residence of his mother, Mattie Sports Calcutt, 1657 Patton Drive, Florence.
