JOE ALLEN WIGGINS TIMMONSVILLE, SC Joe Allen Wiggins, 70, joined the church triumphant on Thursday, November 19, 2015. Joe was born on February 27, 1945 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Eleanor Joyce Wiggins and the late Joe Rufus Wiggins.He graduated from McClenaghan High School in Florence, SC and spent a brief enjoyable time at the University of South Carolina, Florence Campus, before joining the United States Navy.He served his country during the Vietnam Conflict aboard a nuclear submarine and an aircraft carrier. After the Navy, he enjoyed a career at H.B. Robinson Nuclear Plant in Hartsville, SC.Joe also served his community as a firefighter and taught firefighting classes for the state.Joe had a marvelous voice and enjoyed singing bass in the Navy Blue Jackets Choir and professionally in barber shop quartets later in life.He found special joy when he moved to his grandfather’s farm and relived his childhood memories with his own grandchildren. In addition to his mother, Joe is survived by his wife, Mary McGee Wiggins; daughters, Tara Wiggins and Lori (Jeff) Rosbrugh; step-children, Billy (Kim) Newsome, Alan (Sharon) Newsome and Marissa (Bruce) Walters; grandchildren, Matthew Gardner, Jared Rosbrugh, Dylan Rosbrugh, Kristin Wiggins and Ryan Wiggins; step-grandchildren, Ann Newsome, Emily Newsome, Wade Newsome, Mattie Grace Walters and Nora Mitchell; sister, Janis (Larry) Harvey; brothers, Evan Wiggins and D.L. “Boone” (Lucia) Wiggins and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. In addition to his father, Joe is preceded in death by his son, James Christopher Wiggins. Memorials may be made to Elim Baptist Church, 1303 Olanta Highway, Effingham, SC29541. A celebration of Joe’s life will be held at 11:00 AM Sunday, November 22, 2015 at Elim Baptist Church during the worship hour.The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the service from noon until 1:00 PM.
