Joan “Jo” Marie Driskill Lee Florence, SC Joan “Jo” Marie Driskill Lee, 60, passed away on May 12, 2013, at her home after a brief Illness. She was born in Scotia, NY a daughter of Novelda Brown Driskill and the late Roger David Driskill. She attended schools in Auburn, Liverpool and N. Syracuse, NY, Indianapolis, IN and Vestal NY.She graduated from Vestal High School and moved to Florence in 1982. She attended Florence-Darlington Tech where she earned as Associate Degree in Computer Science. She was employed by FTC in Kingstree, SC as a computer programmer/analyst. Joan loved animals and rescued many cats and dogs in her lifetime. She enjoyed gardening, painting and making her own organic soaps. She was also a music lover, especially of classical and New Age music. She is preceded in death by her father, Roger David Driskill. Surviving are her mother, Novelda Brown Driskill; sister, Karen Hauck; son, Christopher Lee of Florence; 3 nephews, Ryan (Amy) Hauck and their children, Austin, Jonas and Devon of Summerville, Cory (Heather) Hauck and their children, Miles and Elise of Knoxville, TN and Travis (Marnnie Leigh) Hauck and their daughter, Lily of W. Columbia, SC; her oldest friends, Pat Samuelson of Charleston, SC, Nancy Dougherty of Myrtle Beach, SC and Sarah Brooks of Timmonsville. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2013 at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home, with the Rev. Michael Vereen officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. Saturday at the Funeral Home. Joan has requested cremation and her wishes are that memorials be made to the Kidney Foundation at 508 Hampton Street, Suite 200, Columbia, South Carolina 29201-2765, www.kidneysc.org or to the Florence Area Humane Society, PO Box 4808 Florence, SC29504, or the Sierra Club. The family would like to express their appreciation to Carolinas Hospice nurses and aides and to Anna Chilton for their kind service and assistance during Joan’s Illness.
