JEWEL VAUSE HANNA FLORENCE, SC - Jewel "Judy" Vause Hanna, 77, after a ten month battle with cancer, went to be with her Lord and Savior at the McLeod Hospice House on Saturday, December 14, 2013. Visitation will be at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 18th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and the Funeral Service will be conducted at 3 pm on Thursday, December 19th at Immanuel Baptist Church.The Internment will follow the service at Florence Memorial Gardens.Family and friends will be received at Susan and Ricky Bruton’s home located at 2920 Woodbine Ave. in Florence. Judy lived in Surfside Beach from 2011 through December 9, 2013. Prior to this, Jewel and her late husband David L. Hanna lived in Florence County.Jewel was and is loved dearly by her family and friends and will be greatly missed.She had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and the family is rejoicing in her homegoing to her heavenly Father. Mrs. Hanna was born in Florence County, a daughter of the late Wilbur A. Vause and Olivia Weaver.She graduated with honors from McClenaghan High School in 1953.She married her high school sweetheart, David Hanna, and during their 59 years of marriage they had four daughters.Her beloved husband passed away in March of this year. Surviving are her four daughters, J. Lyn (Vince) Soto of Myrtle Beach, Susan(Ricky) Bruton of Florence, Karen Hanna of Surfside Beach, and Davia (John) Isleib of Jacksonville, Florida;Five grandchildren, Vincent David (Ginger) Soto of Florence,Jayme (Tim) Windham of Lamar, Elizabeth Bruton of Florence, Mollie Soto of Charleston, David Isleib of Jacksonville, FL; two great-granddaughters, Madilyn Soto of Florence and the late Taylor Windham of Lamar; one great-grandson, Keaton Williamson of Lamar.Two sisters, Alberta Smith of Florence and Jackie White of Columbia; sister-in-law, Sara (Gary) Dean of Surfside Beach, and a number of nieces and nephews. Jewel retired from AT&T where she worked for 30 years.At retirement, she was the manager of the AT&T phone center store at the Magnolia Mall.She began her career with Southern Bell as an operator and held various positions within the company. She was a member of Telephone Pioneers.Judy was always active in her church and in the community; she loved working with children, gardening, serving at the voting polls, and serving her family and friends in any way she could. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, and Bethany Christian Services.She was an avid gardener and loved flowers, so flowers are welcome.
