Jessie Margaret Taylor Smith, 87, of Florence, passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2018, at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born on June 10, 1931, in Lamar, SC, the daughter of the late Robert Lee Taylor and Frances Luvenia Isgett Taylor Yopp. Jessie was a life-long member of Mizpah Baptist Church.She sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, GAs, and many other classes.Her artwork and crafts lined the hallways and filled the classrooms for many years.She won many blue ribbons for her artwork that was displayed at the Florence County Agricultural Fair as well as the Florence Museum.Jessie was lovingly known by her family as Mama, Mom, Ma, Grammamock, Grandma, Grandmama, Great-Grandmama and Jessie T. She is survived by her four sons, Robbie (Marie) Smith, Steve (Julie) Smith, Tommy (Debbie) Smith, and David (Janet) Smith; one daughter, Dianne Smith Harper; ten grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Jessie is predeceased by her husband, Benjamin William “BW” Smith; two great-great grandchildren and her sisters, Doris Lee Miller and Shirley Nadine McClam. Funeral services will be held at Mizpah Baptist Church on Friday, November 30, 2018, at 2:00 pm. directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home and other times at the home of David and Janet Smith, 5977 East Old Marion Highway in Florence.
