JERRY “BUDDY” ERNEST OAKLEY Effingham, SC Jerry “Buddy” Ernest Oakley, 76, of Effingham, passed away on Monday, November 16, 2015 at his residence after an illness. Mr. Oakley was born in Effingham, SC a son of the late John Ernest Oakley and Mary Ellen Turner Oakley. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Gloria Jean Oakley of the home; daughter, Teresa (Jim) Gilbert of Eastown, SC; sisters, Anna Martin of Elgin, SC, Peggy Jeffords of Timmonsville, SC and Virginia Moore of Florence; grandchildren, Jerry T. Richardson and Stephen J. McQueen and a great-grandchild, Austin Hunter Richardson. Memorials may be made to Homestead Hospice, Homestead HOPE Foundation, 10888 Crabapple Road, Roswell, GA 30075. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, November 19, 2015 in the Florence Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel.Entombment will follow directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
