Jerry Neil Couch

Jerry Neil Couch, 80, of Florence, passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2017. He was born in Lancaster, SC a son of the late Clarence Jefferson Couch and Connie Cato Couch.Jerry was a US Air Force veteran having served four years in North Africa and Aiken , SC, followed by work at the Savannah River Plant and was a “Paper Mill Veteran” having worked for Stone Container from 1965 – 1994, including Florence, SC, Coshocton, OH, and Uncasville, CT where he was a General Manager.He retired from Rand-Whitney Containerboard in Montville, CT in 1996 and returned to Florence, SC.He was a member of Central United Methodist Church and a member and past president of the Golden K Kiwanis Club. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Bruce Couch and James Couch. Surviving are his wife, Patricia Jane Antley Couch of Florence; sons, Neil (Karen) Couch of Alexandria, VA and Bryan (Barb) Couch of Florence, SC; grandchildren, Jonathan Couch and Christopher Couch; great-grandchildren, Caoilainn Couch and Kaylee Couch; brother, Randall (Teresa) Couch; sister-in-law, Barbara F. Couch of Lancaster, and beloved pet, Coco. Memorials may be made to Central United Methodist Church, 225 W. Cheves Street, Florence, SC29501, The National Kidney Foundation at 508 Hampton Street, Suite 200, Columbia, SC 29201 or to the American Lung Association, www.lung.org. The family will receive friends from 1 -2 PM Friday, December 15, 2017 at Central United Methodist Church with the service to follow in the church sanctuary at 2:00 PM.Burial will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, December 19, 2017 in the Florence National Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
