Jerry Lynn Capps, 63, of Florence, passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2017, at McLeod Regional Medical Center from complications of Guillain-Barre Syndrome. Jerry was born in Harnett County, NC to the late Earl Wayne Capps and Clara Mae Capps.He was a loving father and husband.Jerry was always a positive and caring person and always wanted to make you laugh.He was often called the “Mayor of Mars Bluff”.He will be sadly missed by his many friends and family. Jerry was a member of Greater Vision Tabernacle. He worked at ESAB until his retirement. Jerry is survived by his wife of thirty-eight years, Patricia Capps; one son and daughter-in-law, Drs. Jeremy Capps and Dina Capps of Cincinnati, OH; one brother, Dwight Capps (Donna) of Eatonton, GA; father-in-law, Herbert McKissick of Florence; aunts Clentis Capps and JoAnn Townsend of Middlesex, NC; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Barbara and Danny Conner; and several nieces and nephews and his beloved dog Princess and his cats, Turtle, Taby and Moo Moo. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Curtis Capps and Wayne Capps; sister, Linda McClamb; sister-in-law, Eva Capps; mother-in-law, Mary McKissick; and uncles Noah Capps and George Willie Capps (Jenny). Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, November 16, 2107, at the Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
