Jean Whittington Beckman, 88, of Florence, SC, formerly of Aiken, SC, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, May 24, 2021. Mrs. Whittington was born the daughter of the late Margaret Fadene Thomas Whittington and Louis Allen Whittington. She was a volunteer for Carolinas Hospice and a member of Mothers Against Drunk Drivers.Mrs. Whittington was an ordained Deacon of the Presbyterian Church USA, a member of John Calvin Presbyterian Church and a member of the Care and Fellowship Committee.Mrs. Whittington graduated from Pembroke State University and received her Masters Degree from USC Coastal Campus.She was an early childhood education teacher for thirty years and had taught in the Dillon Public Schools, Florence Public Schools District #1, Williston, SC Public Schools and First Baptist Church School in Ocala, FL. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Donald Charles Beckman; grandson, Shane Beckman; brother, Louis Allen Whittington, Jr. and sisters, Carolyn Moody and Eloise Rogers She is survived by her sons, Stephen Miles (Sandra) of Latta, Russell Miles (Diane) of Florence and Keith Beckman (Dianna) of Darlington; grandchildren, Ashleigh Schultz of Columbia, Corey Miles of Columbia, Brandon Miles of Latta, Angela Beckman of Columbia, and Wesley Lane of Latta; 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. The family will receive friends from 10 AM – 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 27, 2021, at John Calvin Presbyterian Church. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday at John Calvin Presbyterian Church.Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
