Janice Yvonne Duke
November 19, 1947 – July 15, 2025
Janice Yvonne Duke, 77, of Ladson SC, entered into the arms of Jesus on July 15, 2025. Born on November 19, 1947, Janice lived a life overflowing with love, laughter, and grace.
Janice was a woman with the biggest, most selfless heart—a heart that welcomed everyone without judgment. She never met a stranger, and if you came to her home, you left feeling like family. Her love was unconditional, and her kindness was endless, reflecting the words of 1 Corinthians 13:4-7:
“Love is patient, love is kind… it always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Landon Duke; her parents, William Alonzo Snipes and Mary Ruth Snipes; and her siblings Donna Wells, Herbert Snipes, Mike Snipes, Junior Snipes and Tony Snipes.
She leaves behind her devoted daughter Shelly Moody and son-in-law Wayland Moody; step-daughter Regina Connell (Russell); her four adoring grandchildren Nicole Adams (Terrell), Lauren Richmond (Alan), Cecilia Connell, and her only grand son Tyler Moody; her dog Minnie Pearl; Sister Linda Bedsaul; sisters and brother-in-law Catherine Keck, Regina Peek, Gary Duke (Trina), Linda Steinman (Greg), John Duke (Deanna), and Billy Duke; and countless nieces, nephews, and friends who cherished her dearly.
Janice had a zest for life and a soul full of joy. She loved fishing on quiet mornings, quilting cozy treasures for her family, and challenging herself with crossword puzzles. Music filled her days—sometimes with a little dancing in the kitchen—and her cooking could make anyone feel loved. But more than anything, she loved being “Nana” to her grandchildren. They were her heart and her greatest joy.
Janice had a gift for making everyone feel seen, heard, and loved. She believed the best in people and spread warmth wherever she went. If you knew her, you knew laughter, hugs, and a plate of something delicious were never far away.
She leaves us with a legacy of faith, family, and unconditional love. Though our hearts are broken, we rejoice in knowing she is reunited with her loved ones in Heaven, and we take comfort in knowing one day we will be reunited with her.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday July 22nd, 2025 at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home in Florence SC, with visitation at 9am, funeral at 10am and burial at 11am with reception to follow.
Until we meet again, Nana, we’ll carry your love with us always.
