Janette Turner Cox Effingham, SC Janette Turner Cox, 65, of Myrtle Beach and formerly of Effingham, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 19, 2013. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 22, 2013 in the chapel at the Florence Baptist Temple. The family will receive friends at the Church following this service at other times at the residence of her son, Douglas Cox in Effingham. A second Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, October 26, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Myrtle Beach.The family will receive friends after this service at the residence of Mrs. Cox in Myrtle Beach. Janette was born in Sumter, SC a daughter of the late Elbert Miles and Viola H. Hudson Turner. She was a member of the First Baptist Church at Myrtle Beach and enjoyed visiting the Florence Baptist Temple during her visits with her family in Effingham. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Stanley Cox, Jr., who died in 1995; parents, 3 brothers, William Turner, Thomas Turner and Charles Turner all of Sumter; 2 sisters, Ann Turner Snyder and Louise Turner Miller all of Sumter. Surviving are her 3 children, Douglas Allen Cox, Stephen C. (Lisa) Cox and Teresa Cox Young all of Effingham; 6 grandchildren, Justin Allen (Amber) Cox, Meagan Cox, McKayla Cox, Ethan Cox, Katherine Smith and Thomas Young all of Effingham; 4 great-grandchildren, Kinsley Cox, Kylie Cox, Mason Allen Cox and Chad Barefoot all of Effingham; many very special nieces and nephews and a sister, Ruby Pritchard of Sumter. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home is assisting the family.
