Jane Johnson Spell

Jane Johnson Spell, 52, of Florence, passed away Sunday morning, September 10, 2017. Mrs. Spell was born in Darlington, SC a daughter of the late Edward Hewitt Johnson, Sr. and Judith Marie McGee Johnson.She was a former Girl Scout Leader in Charlotte, NC, was a Past Commander of the DAV Auxiliary, a member of the Ladies Auxiliary for the Omar Shrine, a volunteer for the Florence Chamber of Commerce and Vice President of the Reserve Homeowners Association.She had worked for Regency Hospital and retired from McLeod Regional Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her parents and by a brother, Edward H. “Buddy” Johnson, Jr. Surviving are her husband, James Thomas “Tommy” Spell; daughter, Crystal (Mike) Shaughnessy of Summerville; step-son, Thomas Brandon Spell of Florence; step-daughter, Dana Lynn Gannon of Florence; grandchildren, Mackenzie, Madison, Matthew, Sara Beth and Payton; sisters, Annette Johnson (James) McLamb of Georgetown, Susie Johnson (Mervin Watkins) Hayes of Darlington and Lisa Johnson Smith (Mike) Brown of Arkansas; and two dogs, Buffy and Bella. Memorials may be made to Palmetto Street Church of God, 3132 Palmetto Street, Florence, SC 29501 or to the Lupus Foundation, www.lupus.org. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 PM Tuesday at the Palmetto Street Church of God. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at Palmetto Street Church of God.Burial will follow at the Florence National Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
