JAMES ROBERT STEPHENS, 86, of Pamplico, passed away Sunday, February 8, 2015 at his residence after an illness. Mr. Stephens was born in Florence County, a son of the late James Ed and Lizzie Dozier Turner Stephens. He was a lifetime farmer and mechanic and had served his country in the United States Army. Mr. Stephens was a longtime member of Prospect United Methodist Church, where he served as Steward, Sunday School Superintendent and was a member of the Methodist Mens’ Club. He was a member of Woodmen of the World and the American Legion, and loved fishing, camping and woodworking. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Mazie Lee Hutchinson Stephens, his son, Robbie (Sharon) Stephens; daughters, Carol (Richard) Parker and Donna Stephens; special friend, Allie Peebles; grandchildren, Brandon (Michelle) Stephens, Britton(Edward) Morgan and Clay Parker; great-grandchildren, Ava Stephens and Jamie Morgan; and his brother, Charles “Bobo” (Loretta) Stephens. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, James Larry Stephens; his siblings; Edward Stephens, Jr., Katie Lou Vaughn, Hazel Smyrl, Vivian Coleman, Margie McCall, Willard “Doll” Turner and William “Son” Turner. Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at Prospect United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery, directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 3:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Church.
