James “Jimmy” Kelly Jernigan, Jr., 77, of Florence, passed away on Monday, October 20, 2014 in a local hospital. Mr. Jernigan was born in Florence, a son of the late James Kelly Jernigan, Sr. and Ada Louise Harrell Jernigan. He was a truck driver with Old Dominion. Mr. Jernigan was a veteran of the US Army. Surviving are his wife of fifty-four years, Betty Lou Ramsey Jernigan; his daughters, Yvonne Whaley Matthews of Columbia and Pamela Jernigan Nance of Florence; two grandchildren, Sheldon Eugene Matthews and Destiny Matthews Davenport; a great-grandchild, Ella Davenport; a brother, Richard H. Jernigan of Texas and a sister, Kay Jernigan Hall of North Carolina. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 24, 2014, at Florence National Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
