James Richard Hinkle

October 28, 1941 — July 4, 2016

James Richard Hinkle Florence, SC James Richard Hinkle, 74, died Monday, July 4, 2016 at his home. Born in Jackson, KY, he was a son of Robert Lee Hinkle, Sr and Edris Price Hinkle. He was comptroller and night auditor at the Holiday Inn on Lucas St. in Florence for many years. Mr. Hinkle was a very active member and treasurer of the Pee Dee Area Coin club, and was an avid league bowler. He was very proud of the fact that he had traveled to almost all of the National Parks in the United States. He was a member of College Park Baptist Church and Carlisle Wilson Sunday School Class. He is survived by his son, James Kevin Hinkle of Chapel Hill, NC; a daughter, Dr. Kimberly Wells and her husband, David Hunt, of Alexandria, VA; a sister, Donna Grey (Clayton) Hubbard of Florence; nieces, Kathy Deskins, Hila Benton, Rebecca Bailey, and Terra Stokes, whom he lovingly referred to as his daughter; nephews, Patrick Ramsey, Michael Hinkle, and David Lee Hinkle; and numerous grand and great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Robert L. Hinkle, Jr. and William Lloyd Hinkle. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday, July 7, 2016 at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held Friday at 2:00 P.M. at College Park Baptist Church. Burial will be held later in the family cemetery, Roscoe Davis Cemetery in Paintsville, KY. Memorial contributions are suggested to McLeod Hospice of the Pee Dee, PO Box 100551, Florence, SC 29502.
