James David Hendrick

James David Hendrick, 71, of Florence, passed away on Monday, September 5, 2016, at Carolinas Hospital from a brief illness. Mr. Hendrick was born in Wilmington, NC, a son of the late Johnny Robert Hendrick and Edith Inez Bowen Hendrick. He served in Vietnam in the US Navy, and was the owner and operator of Hendrick Septic Tank Service for 42 years. He was a member of Tans Bay Baptist Church, and was instrumental in Faith Christian Academy becoming a part of the church family. He was always an extremely hard worker, but always made time for the love of his family and friends. Surviving are his loving wife and partner of 48 years, Donna C. Hendrick of the home; a son, James David (Cyndi) Hendrick, Jr. of Coward; a daughter, Donette (David) Hendrick Shaw of Effingham; two brothers, Harry “Don” Hendrick of Melbourne, FL and Larry (Karen) Hendrick of Darlington; grandchildren Karrington “KK” Hendrick and James David “Tripp” Hendrick, III; brother in law, Carl (Debbie) Poston, III; sister in law, Janet Lynn Poston; father in law, Carl L. Poston; nieces and nephews Michelle Steffano, Michael “Jake” (Nicki) Hendrick, Alexis Poston, Dempsey Poston, Carl Poston, IV and Chad S. Peagler; his best friends, George McLaughlin and William Gardner, and Audrey Streit and the staff he loved at Faith Christian Academy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Ronald Hendrick and his wife, Reinhilde, a brother in law, Ronnie L. Calcutt, and mother in law Anne B. Poston. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tans Bay Baptist Church, 3919 S. Irby St., Florence, SC, 29505. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Stoudenmire Dowling Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens.
