James Legrand “Buddy” Calcutt, 81, of Pamplico, passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2014, at Carolina Hospital Systems. Mr. Calcutt was born in Pamplico, SC, a son of the late Luther James Calcutt and Thelma Collins Calcutt. He was a veteran of the US Army.Mr. Calcutt was a member of Mt. Elon Free Will Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School for over fifty years, served as a Deacon and was active in all areas of the church.He was a carpenter for many years and later worked at the Shrimper and then Hyman Paper Company. Surviving are his wife of fifty-three years, Joan Hyman Calcutt; his children, Bryant (Shawn) Calcutt and Bentley Calcutt, both of Pamplico; his grandchildren, Kayla (Jimmy)Bellflowers, Bry Calcutt, Emma Ruth Calcutt, Kristopher LaTour and Daniel Douglas; three great-grandchildren;a special daughter, Gretta Bellflowers; his siblings, Elizabeth Calcutt, Billy (Elizabeth) Calcutt, Randy (Alice) Calcutt, Joe (Peggy) Calcutt, all of Florence; Faye C. (Wayne) Gibbs, Bobby (Sue) Calcutt, Charles (Renea) Calcutt,Jakie (Carolyn) Calcutt, all of Pamplico, Ray (Brenda) Calcutt of Brittons Neck and Special Cousin, Dollee Turner ofPamplico. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, February 21, 2014, at Mt. Elon Free Will Baptist Church.Burial will follow in the church cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
