James Larry Barnwell

James Larry Barnwell, 81, of Florence, passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2020. Mr. Barnwell was born in Fletcher, NC a son of the late Francis Barnwell and Elise Bailey Barnwell.He served 25 years in the US Air Force and retired as Sr. Master Sergeant.He worked for ESAB as Head of Maintenance and was a member of Liberty Baptist Church where he was a Deacon and Sunday School teacher. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, James L. Barnwell, Jr., and by two brothers, Ronnie Barnwell and Jerry Barnwell. Surviving are his wife, Patricia Lankford Barnwell of Florence; sons, Steve (Lynn) Barnwell of Corryton, TN, Brian Barnwell of Florence, and Ray Charles (Lynn) Barnwell of Corinth, MS; daughter, Katherine (Martin) Grossman of Fort Valley, GA; 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers, John Barnwell of Spartanburg, SC, Tommy (Ginny) Barnwell of Salem, SC, and Ricky (Melinda) Barnwell of Roebuck, SC; sisters, Barbara Robbins of Chester, SC, Rita Belcher of Woodruff, SC, and Peggy (Jim) Stewart of Spartanburg, SC. Memorials may be made to Liberty Baptist Church, PO Box 207, Timmonsville, SC29161. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 10:45 am Tuesday, July 28, 2020 in the Florence Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel with graveside services to follow with military honors by the US Air Force Honor Guard in the cemetery at 11:00 directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.Covid-19 protocol will be observed with social distancing.
