Jacquelyn Sturgis Hoke Quinby, SC Jacquelyn Sturgis Hoke, 71, died Sunday, July 1, 2012, with her family by her side in Lexington, SC. She was born October 16, 1940 in Rock Hill, SC, a daughter of Victor and Mary Wakefield Sturgis. She graduated Rock Hill High School in 1959 and then went on to attend Winthrop College, graduating with a Masters in Home Economics. Upon graduation, she worked for the Clemson Extension Service. Jackie was a loving and caring woman. At less than 5 feet tall, she was a force to be reckoned with.She lived in Quinby, SC for 46 years until moving to Lexington, SC in April 2012. She was involved in her church and in her girl's younger years was a Girl Scout Leader. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and fishing for most of her life while in good health. Jackie is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 35 years, William R. "Bill"Hoke, Sr.; her son, Billy Hoke, Jr.; and by her sister, Harriett Zinker. She leaves behind her daughters, Leslie (Alan) Green, Jane (Jeff) Buell, and Barbara Parks; grandchildren, Derek Hoke, Brooke (Taylor) Poston, Meredith and Jenna Green,Miles and Ellie Buell; sisters, Esther Senn, Nancy Philips, Celeste Sturgis, and her identical twin, Kathie (Ray) Robinson; and by a brother-in-law, Harry Zinker. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider a donation to her home church, Quinby United Methodist, 1247 E. Ashby Road, Florence, SC 29506. Graveside services will be held at 10:00a.m. Thursday, July 5, 2012 at Christ Episcopal Church Cemetery,2305 N. Williston Road, Florence, SC 29506 with visitation immediately following at Quinby United Methodist Church directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
