Jacqueline M. Smith Myrtle Beach, SC Jacqueline M. Smith, 82, previously of Florence, SC, died Monday morning, September 2, 2013 in a Myrtle Beach health care facility after an extended illness. Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, September 5, 2013 at Calvary Baptist Church, Florence. Burial will follow in Florence Memorial Gardens Cemetery, directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Jacqueline was born in Florence County, South Carolina. She was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she taught 3rd and 4th grade Sunday School for many years, teaching children through the tutoring ministry, called church members on their birthdays, visiting home bound and people in the hospital, sang in the Senior Adult Choir, she taught Vacation Bible School, Adult Sunday School, volunteered in the church kindergarten and was active in the community women’s Bible Study at First Presbyterian.She was a retired teacher with a Masters in Education from Francis Marion University having taught at Darlington Elementary School and enjoyed reading. She was preceded in death by her husband, K.A. Smith, who died 2003. Surviving are her 4 loving children, Kenneth Jerry (Susan) Smith of Florence, Christy (Darry) Del Corro of Myrtle Beach, Richard Brian (Carol) Smith of Prosperity and Larry (Catherine) Smith of N. Myrtle Beach; brother, Don (Betty) McKnight of Rhode Island; 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Memorials will be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 915 Cherokee Road, Florence, SC 29501. The family will receive friends from 2 – 3 pm Thursday at the Church prior to the service.
