Irene Brown Miles, 69, of Florence was welcomed into Heaven on Sunday, December 8, 2013. Irene was born in Florence, SC, a daughter of Lucille E. Brown and the late Nelson Brown. Irene was also known as “Sugar”, a nickname given to her by her Grandma Edgerton.She was a faithful member of the Florence Baptist Temple for many years, but worshiped via the service on TV for the past several months.Irene was born on February 10, 1944, to the late Nelson Brown, Sr. and Lucille Edgerton Brown, all of Florence.She worked as a bank teller most of her working life and also seven years at Winn Dixie as a cashier and in produce, after which came ten years at Washington Mutual, where she retired in 2006. She is survived by her three beloved children, Lucy Nance, Crystal (Ty) Hudson and Curtis Lee (Misty) Martin, Jr. all of Florence.God also blessed her with two beautiful grandchildren, Ashlee Nance, age twelve, and Melissa Martin, age one.She is also survived by her 96 year old mother, Lucille Brown of Florence and her brother, William Nelson “Bill” Brown, Jr. of Liberty, SC. She lovingly called him “Bubba”.She was blessed with two nieces and one nephew and all their children plus many, many cousins and their children and also a special Aunt of 99 years, Annie Roney Vaughan, whom she loved very much. Funeral service will be held 12:00 pm on Tuesday, December 10, 2013, at the Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Chapel.Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 pm on Monday at the funeral home as well as 11:00 am – 12:00 pm on Tuesday. Please sign the online tribute wall at www.stoudenmiredowling.com.
