Irene P. Mcelveen

Irene P. McElveen, 92, of Florence, passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2020. Mrs. McElveen was born a daughter of the late Blanche Timmons Powell and George Powell. She was graduated as a Register Nurse from Toumey Hospital in Sumter in 1945 and worked with Bishopville Hospital and McLeod Regional Medical Center.She was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church in Shiloh, SC. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Franklin McElveen; and son, Danny Wayne McElveen. She was also predeceased by her brother, George Powell; sisters, Alma Alford and Betty Brown and a daughter-in-law, Marilyn McElveen. Mrs. McElveen is survived by her sons, George S. “Steve” McElveen of Florence and Robert Franklin McElveen (Diana) of Loris, SC; daughter, Pamela Fagan (Patrick) of Greenwood, SC; grandchildren, Amy Dew, Melia Evans, Ian, Connor, and Keely Fagan; great-grandchildren, Presley and Jackson Dew and Ashlyn and Jordy Lee Evans and sister, Alice Brunson of St, Paul, NC and half-sister, Gail Ferguson. Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 on Monday, January 4, 2021, at Florence Memorial Gardens directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
