IRENE ABBOTT GARDNER FLORENCE, SC Irene Abbott Gardner, 97, of Florence, passed away on Friday, December 30, 2016. Mrs. Gardner was born in Cullman, AL a daughter of the late Silas Sutton Abbott and Jo Ellen Baker.She attended Cullman Co. schools in Alabama and received a degree from Cullman Business College.She was a Management Analyst – Comptroller for the Charleston Naval Shipyard where she retired in 1975 after 32 years.She was a devoted member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church in Pamplico since 1975. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles Wilson Gardner; brothers, George Abbott, Sterling Abbott, Bertis Abbott, Arnold Abbott and Cortez Abbott and her sisters, Marie Abbott Estes, Verla Abbott Mobley and Grace Abbott Noneaker. Memorials may be made to Tabernacle United Methodist Church, 6758 Francis Marion Road, Pamplico, SC29583. The family and friends will receive friends from 2 – 3 PM Sunday, January 1, 2017 at Tabernacle United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday at Tabernacle United Methodist Church.Burial will follow in the church cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.
