Ira "Ike" Edward Mcgee

Ira Edward “Ike” McGee, 82, died Friday, October 09, 2015 at the McLeod Hospice House, to go join his sweet Dottie who died on September 29, 2015, in the room next door. Mr. McGee was born in Coward, SC, a son of the late Wiley R. McGee and Allie Hall McGee.He attended the Citadel, later obtained his electrical engineering degree, and even later in life graduated from Francis Marion University with a Bachelor Degree.Mr. McGee was a veteran of the US Navy, having served in the Korean War.He retired from ESAB.Mr. McGee was an avid outdoorsman and gardener and was known for his tomatoes.He was also a former Scoutmaster. Surviving are his sons, Michael McGee of Timmonsville, Tim McGee (Diane) of Florence and Mark McGee (Wendy) of Florence; grandchildren, Eric (Cristen) McGee and Holly McGee; brothers, Randy (Dottie) McGee of Kentucky and Bobby (Ethel) McGee of Louisiana; and a sister, Jackie Boggs of Timmonsville. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his wife, Dorothy “Dottie” Jean Doyle McGee; brothers, Billy and Jimmy McGee and sister, Fay McGee. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 12, 2015 at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens.
