Hugh Thomas Griffin

FLORENCE, SC HUGH THOMAS GRIFFIN, JR. Hugh Thomas “Tommy” Griffin, Jr. of Florence passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2015 at his home. He was born May 27, 1936 in Florence, a son of the late Hugh Thomas Griffin, Sr. and Roberta Hewitt Griffin. He served in the Naval Reserve and was the retired owner/operator of H. T. Griffin & Son Construction Company.He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Presbyterian Church and also a former member of the Elks Club. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn DuRant Griffin; sons, Paul Griffin of Myrtle Beach, SC, Timothy D. Griffin of Atlanta, Ga., Matthews S. Griffin of Garden City, SC and Andrew S. Griffin of Florence; brother; Robert “Bobby”W. (JoAnn) Griffin of Florence; sisters, Linda (Hoyt) Munn and Janet (Freddie) Watts , both of Florence; 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Paula Caroline Griffin. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Trinity Evangelical Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral HomeThe family will receive friendsfrom 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM, prior to the service at the church.
