HERBERT B. COLEMAN Florence, SC Herbert B. Coleman, 83 of Florence, SC died Friday, August 26, 2011 at home after an extended illness. Mr. Coleman was born in Hyman, SC and was the last surviving child of the late Luther M. Coleman and Valarie C. Coleman. He was married to the late Hazel C. Coleman for 41 years before her death in 1997. Mr. Coleman was employed by the Piggly Wiggly Corporation as owner/operator until his retirement in 2009. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church and a member of the Pioneer Sunday School Class. He was also a Master Mason with the Masonic Temple 340. Surviving are his daughters, Linda Cook Finklea of Myrtle Beach, SC, Jackie (David) Parrott of Effingham, and Dede (Laler) DeCosta of Woodstock, GA; son, H. Alan Coleman of Florence; 8 grandchildren, Timmy (Kathy) Parrott, Elizabeth (Hayes) Drake, Michael (Debra) Cook, Amy (Brad) Hill, Cortney Coleman, Laler DeCosta, III, Christine Decosta, Stephanie Coleman and 7 great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the McLeod Hospice House, PO Box 100551, Florence, SC 29502. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00PM Sunday, August 28, 2011 at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 6-8PM Saturday, August 27, 2011 at the Funeral Home.
