Henry Logan Powers

Henry Logan Powers, 88, of Florence, SC, passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2026.

He was born in Junction City, KY, the son of the late William Ray Powers and Gussie Burgess Powers. Mr. Powers dedicated 21 years to the United States Air Force and served in the Vietnam war. He was a charitable man, who loved giving back to the community. He enjoyed getting gifts for the children of Rehoboth Baptist Church, where he was a member; and participating in Christmas Child. He was a member of the McKinney Masonic Lodge #631 F&AM and the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the Unites States (V.F.W.). Mr. Powers was also a former member of Woodmen of the World.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Franklin C. “Cordell” Powers; and sisters, Sue Taylor, Betty Candler and Alma Austin.

Surviving is his loving wife, of 58 years, Barbara Ann Powers; daughter, D. Starr Buchanan, of Florence, SC; brother, Jeffrey R. (Jeraldine) Powers, of Kings Mountain, KY; sister, Vera Lamb, of Stanford, KY; grandson, Joshua Adam Buchanan; sister-in-law, Betty D. Tindall; and many nieces, nephews, family friends and extended family.

Memorials may be made to Rehoboth Baptist Church, 1408 Old Wallace Gregg Road, Florence, SC 29506-4328.

The family will receive friends at the Powers family home, 1408 Old Wallace Gregg Road, Florence, SC 29506, Monday, June 1, 2026, and Tuesday, June 2, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at Florence Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at the mausoleum chapel. Entombment will follow immediately after the service.
