SGT. Major Henry Lynwood “Limbo” Dawkins, US Army (Retired) Darlington, SC SGT. Major Henry Lynwood “Limbo” Dawkins, US Army (Retired), 79, of Darlington, passed away on Thursday, July 04, 2013 at McLeod Regional Medical Center after an illness. Mr. Dawkins was born in Florence, SC a son of the late Ollie Manning Dawkins, Sr. and Essie Susan Geddings Dawkins.He loved his country and family.He was very proud to have served in the US Army and was very patriotic. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Irene Weisensel Dawkins; brother, O.M. “Boot” Dawkins, Jr. and sisters, Margaret Powell, Libby Calcutt and Bettie Andrews. Surviving are his nieces and nephews, Marilyn (Clyde) Patrick, Derrell "Buddy" R. Dawkins, Paul (Shirlene) Calcutt, Dianne (Harold) Robinson, Tripp Dawkins, Susan (Michael) Carraway, Hope Britton and Carrie Andrews; a special cousin, Mary Joyce Wilson and a number of great-nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the Bethea Home, 157 Home Avenue, Darlington, SC29532. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, July 8, 2013 in the Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home Chapel.Burial will follow in the Florence National Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 1:00 PM Monday prior to the service at the funeral home.
