Helen King Nance

November 6, 1932 — August 29, 2014

Helen King Nance, 81, of Florence, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, August 29, 2014. Mrs. Nance was born in Troy, NC, a daughter of the late John C. King and Thelma Allen King.Mrs. Nance was a charter member of Highland Park United Methodist Church where she and her husband were very active and devoted members.Mrs. Nance truly loved her Church and her Church family loved her.She attended Meredith College and received her Associate Degree from Catawba College. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, John C. King, Jr. and her sister, Josephine McLaurin. Surviving are her husband of 60 years, Clyde Hurley Nance, Jr.; her children, Clyde H. (Jo Ann) Nance, III, Jane (Jeff) Smith and John (Kimberly) Nance, both of Florence; her grandchildren, Carson Nance, Emily Nance, Jenna Nance, Jennifer (Hamilton) Harris, John Kent Smith, Christopher Smith, Coleman Nance and Claire Nance; and her great-grandchildren, Blythe Harris and Malorie Harris. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, September 1, 2014, at Highland Park United Methodist Church.Entombment will follow at Florence Memorial Gardens Mausoleum directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Highland Park United Methodist Church, 1300 Second Loop Road, Florence, SC 29505. The family would like to express their special thanks to the loving staff at Heritage Home of Florence for the care and attention given to Mrs. Nance.
