Hayes Shirley Ollis passed away on August 24, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Spruce Pine, N.C. on June 8, 1922. He was the son of the late Council and Dixie Wise Ollis.He was a member of Eastside Christian Church (formerly Bethesda Presbyterian Church) where he served as a deacon and an elder.He worked at American Bakeries for twenty years. He owned and operated Ollis Grocery for twenty-two years. He was a member and twice Master of Hampton Masonic Lodge #204 AFM. He was a member of Omar Shrine Temple, Scottish Rite, York Rite and Eastern Star, Lenora Chapter #30.Hayes Loved gardening, country music and NASCAR. He is survived by his loving wife of seventy-four years, Nadine Harrell Ollis; two daughters, Shirley (Wilda) Gray of Sardis, S.C. and Betty (Wilbur) Coleman of Darlington, S.C.; granddaughter, Kim (Ricky) Reynolds; great-granddaughter, Hannah Reynolds; great-grandsons, Cody Reynolds, Brandon Gray and Jason Gray. He was predeceased in death by his parents; grandson, Kirk Gray and four brothers. His beloved friend and caregiver was Bonnie Mixon. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 26, 2015, at Mount Hope Mausoleum.Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. in Mount Hope Mausoleum directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.Entombment will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Eastside Christian Church, 3451 East Palmetto Street, Florence, SC 29506 or Agape Hospice, 1925 Mountain Laurel Court, Florence, SC29505.
