Harold Franklin Fields

Harold Franklin Fields, 81, of Florence, passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2018. Mr. Fields was born in Appalachia, VA a son of the late Morton Fields and Annie Octavia Coomer Fields.He retired from the Air Force after 22 years of service and then retired from the Post Office.He was a past Deacon, a member of Peace Free Will Baptist Church, a member of the VFW, the American Legion and a former Gideon.He loved woodworking. He was preceded in death by his parents and by a sister, Joyce Trepp. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Betty Wheatley Fields of Florence; daughters, Diana Moore of North Myrtle Beach and Patricia (Richard) Handley of Florence; grandchildren, Savannah (Kyle) Kepley, Ashleigh (Cory) Kehl, Emily (Blake) Avant, Ryan (Jennie) Martin and Michelle Handley; great-grandchildren, Kristian, Wheatley, Julia and Mason; brothers, James L. Fields of Florence, Allen L. (Linda) Fields and Don (Pat) Fields, both of Kingsport, TN. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the VA Division of Home Health, www.caregiver.va.gov. The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 1:30 PM Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home.Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM at the Florence National Cemetery.
