Harold Eugene Horton

Harold Eugene Horton, 89, of Florence, SC, passed away on Sunday, May 25, 2025.

He was born in Kershaw County, SC, the son of the late Thomas Roscoe Horton and Maud Eva Dabney Thorne. Mr. Horton attended Calvary Baptist Church. He was a member of the Hampton Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and the Omar Shriner Temple, where he was a past Potentate.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Bonnie Lee Dixon; sons, Harold Horton, Jr. and Charles “Chuck” Horton; daughter, Vickie Stewart; brother, Thomas Horton; and step-sister, Betty Jean Steger.

Surviving are his brother, Aubrey D (Brenda) Horton, Sr, of Mt. Holly, NC; grandchildren, Reagan (Lee) Poston, Jordon (Jessica) Atkinson, and Miranda Horton, of Camden, SC, Cainon Horton, of Charleston, SC, Jacob Horton, of Goose Creek, SC, and Charlie Ann Horton, of Florence, SC; great-grandchildren, Lakin Atkinson, Tyler Atkinson and several others.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Shriners Hospitals For Children, P. O. Box 947765, Atlanta, GA 30394.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM, on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, on Friday, May 30, 2025, at Florence Memorial Gardens.
