Hamp, as he was known, was born June 25, 1934 to the late Alma Holland Wilson Beasley and Hampton Hugo Wilson, Sr.He died on May 28, 2021 at McLeod Hospice House in Florence, after a courageous battle with Dementia and other health related problems. Hamp was raised in Bishopville, SC and attended Bishopville High School and never missed the chance to see his old schoolmates at reunions.Hamp graduated from the University of South Carolina with a B.S. in Business in 1957 and retired from State Farm Insurance Company in 1992.He enjoyed attending Southside Baptist Church, especially the Wayne Bell Sunday School Class and his most enjoyable pastime was cheering on the Gamecocks football, basketball, and baseball teams. Hamp was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Peggy Moore Wilson Morris; daughter, Jan Moore Wilson, son, Stanley Hugo Wilson, and sister, Betty Sue Norris. Surviving are his wife, Janice “Jan” Windham Matthews Wilson of the home; son, Allen Hampton Wilson (Sonia); step-son, John Matthews (Gina); step-daughter, Angel Matthews Stanton Cooper (Kenneth); five grandchildren, and a brother, Michael Beasley (Nell).
